Ysleta ISD student artwork displayed at TX State Capitol

Ysleta ISD is proud to share that Del Valle High School student Erick Gaytan is one of only 14 students in Texas whose artwork was selected by the Office of the First Lady of Texas for yearlong display in Gov. Greg Abbott’s business office at the Texas State Capitol.

Erick’s piece Ojos was selected for display at this year’s Youth Art Month Spring Exhibition in March at the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin, where it captured the attention of Cecilia Abbott, who curated the 14 pieces in this year’s prestigious “Governor’s Gallery.”

To honor this outstanding achievement, Erick, his family, and representatives from Ysleta ISD will attend a special celebration at the close of the 2025 school year.

Congratulations, Erick! Thank you for sharing your talent with the Ysleta ISD community—and all of Texas.
