Ysleta ISD wins national Music Education award for 2nd year in a row

For the second year in a row, the Ysleta Independent School District has won the Best Communities for Music Education award from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation in recognition of the district’s outstanding support and commitment to music education.

In particular, the designation recognizes and celebrates that a healthy music community is defined by a wealth of passion and commitment from leaders who leverage every resource to expand opportunities for children to learn and grow through music-making.

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, districts and schools across the nation answered detailed questions about funding, instructional time, participation, and community engagement. To ensure integrity, data was analyzed by a third-party firm specializing in education and the arts.

Designations were then awarded to 935 school districts and 88 schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment to and access to music education, officials said.

“We are thrilled to recognize this year’s awardees for their outstanding commitment to music education access,” said Julia Rubio, Executive Director of The NAMM Foundation. “These districts and schools demonstrate that access to music learning helps students thrive, in school and in life, and we celebrate their dedication to creating inclusive learning environments.”

Over the program's 26 years, the foundation has recognized over 1,000 school districts and schools in 46 states. Winning this award highlights Ysleta ISD's dedication to music education and strengthens community pride and advocacy for music programs, NAMM Foundation officials said.

The NAMM Foundation advances active participation in music-making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving, and public service programs. For more information, visit www.nammfoundation.org.
