Parkland High School senior Azra Rios Carroll spent the summer break volunteering at Turn the Page: Be the Change, a summer camp hosted by the El Paso Holocaust Museum. For exceptional service, Azra was honored with the August 2025 President’s Award.
Throughout the camp, Azra took on responsibilities well beyond those of a typical volunteer, leading daily lessons and guided thoughtful, age-appropriate discussions that gave campers a safe, inclusive space to explore kindness, bias, moral courage, and social justice. Whether through art, storytelling, or group exercises, every activity Azra led reinforced a powerful message: regardless of age, anyone can be an agent of positive change.
Azra’s compassionate leadership empowered campers to use their voices, take initiative, and develop the skills needed to advocate for justice and inclusivity. Azra’s dedication to education, social awareness, and youth empowerment left a lasting impact on both campers and staff—embodying the very spirit of the Be the Change mission.
The El Paso Holocaust Museum hosts a one-week camp that focuses on empathy, personal growth, social change, and leadership through storytelling, hands-on activities, and inspiring conversations.
We are incredibly proud of Azra for representing the Ysleta ISD community with excellence and heart. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!
