Nine Ysleta ISD campuses dominated the top 10 rankings in West Texas for both high schools and elementary schools on the 2024-25 Annual Texas School Rankings, released Wednesday by the nonprofit research and advocacy group Children At Risk (C@R).
Clinching three spots on the Top 10-ranked high schools list were Valle Verde Early College High School (No. 5), Eastwood High School (No. 7), and Hanks High School (No. 10).
Among Top-10 ranked elementary schools, Ysleta ISD campuses captured six spots:

A Tradition of Gold
Additionally, nine Ysleta ISD campuses were named Gold Ribbon Schools – or high-performing and high-poverty traditional campuses that are more than 75 percent economically disadvantaged and received an A or B grade in the rankings. They are:
• Bel Air High
• Del Valle High
• Hanks Middle
• Ysleta Middle
• East Point Elementary
• Glen Cove Elementary
• Presa Elementary
• Ramona STEM Academy
• Ysleta Elementary
Inside the Rankings
C@R officials said the rankings are designed to help Texas parents better understand how their local schools are performing. The grading system used to rank Texas public schools is based on several factors. Elementary and middle schools were ranked across three different domains and high schools across four domains; they are:
• Student Achievement – Student performance on state standardized tests
• Campus Performance – How a school compares in test scores to schools with similar levels of poverty
• Growth – How students improve on their STAAR tests in a school year
• College Readiness (high schools only) – How many students graduate on time and participate in other college readiness activities
